Product description
Living panicle hydrangea 'Sugar Rush' (Hydrangea paniculata 'LC NO11' PBR) is a medium-sized variety that grows in 3-4 years to approximately 95 cm tall and 95 cm wide, with a uniform, almost spherical shape. It blooms from July to the end of September, for about 100 days per season, and its hallmark is its pure, cool white color that persists throughout. It is one of the few panicle hydrangeas that practically never turns pink—only at the very end of flowering, when the panicles fade, a delicate pink bloom may appear on the petals. This variety is fully hardy (down to -30 °C, USDA zones 4-8), blooms on current year's growth, and was awarded a silver medal by the Royal Horticultural Society of Boskoop (KVBC).
If you're looking for a white, bouquet-like hydrangea, this variety solves a problem familiar to every gardener with a cool-toned palette: most white varieties fade to pink or red in the second half of summer, disrupting the intended color scheme of the border. 'Sugar Rush' maintains its whiteness until the end of the season, making it suitable for areas where the color needs to remain stable—in white, modern, minimalist gardens, and in plantings along facades with a distinct color. This variety comes from the Living Creations® collection—a Dutch series selected for its long flowering period, stiff stems, and durability. It is legally protected (EU57854), and its propagation is prohibited.
The panicles are medium-sized but very numerous and composed almost exclusively of sterile flowers, ensuring they maintain their fresh appearance for a long time. They grow on stiff, upright stems that resist bending under their weight or after a downpour—a characteristic for which the entire Living series is renowned. Dark green, ovate leaves create a striking backdrop against which the white appears brighter than in varieties with lighter foliage. After flowering, the panicles dry to a warm, creamy beige and remain on the shrub until spring, adorning the garden beyond the season. White inflorescences are also one of the most versatile florist's materials—they are suitable for cut bouquets, wedding decorations, and for drying, as they don't darken as much after drying as pink varieties.
